The Library of Congress Office, Islamabad, Pakistan, is one of six overseas offices administered by the Overseas Operations Division of the Library. These offices acquire, catalog, preserve, and distribute library and research materials from countries where such materials are essentially unavailable through conventional acquisitions methods.

|| Cooperative Acquisitions Program ||

The Islamabad Office administers a Cooperative Acquisitions Program (CAP) acquiring materials for the Library of Congress and other participating academic, research, and public libraries in United States, Canada, and Europe.

|| Exchange Program ||

Through formal and informal exchange agreements office acquire materials that would otherwise not be available. Exchange partners exchange their publications with Islamabad Office. The office offers in exchange library materials that are in excess of its needs (duplicates), and selected from Library of Congress and U.S. Government publications.
